Ashley
Ashley's coming home tomorrow. They've sorted his sleep problems out with ... Ready Brek! Apparently it weighs him down and helps him sleep. The kids and Gill had a great day at Chester Zoo with friends and I stayed at home and watched the Grand Prix. It's too hot.

He's had a good night's sleep on the ward and is eating well. They seem to be giving juice instead of milk for some reason. Got fed by the nurses - meat pie and beans mmm. Home for 7. Long day (found out my boss has shingles, must be going round, a colleague had it last week)

Ashley's back in hospital. He's not been sleeping well and they want to examine him and monitor him for a day or so.
Let you know what happens.

Update
Ashley's not quite out of the woods yet. His blood sugar's a bit "up
and down" and the Oxygen was turned on again this afternoon.
On the good side, he took a 25ml feed. More of them and we'll be looking for a discharge date.
Gill's home tomorrow: after much heart searching. She'll sleep better and knows the Special Care people are the best.
On the down side, some lowly turd (scuse French) put an untraceable
blog entry on this afternoon. "Whatever" asked me if I was a "pikey"
for calling choosing Ashley's name. (I think he means
gypsy/hillbilly/Retard. At first I was angry that he hadn't read any of
my previous blogs about Ashley's problems in utero. I typed a long
reply.
Then I deleted my entry and his. Why should I feel anything for anyone
who gets cheap thrills out of trying to insult people via the internet?
Life's too short and he's not worth the braincells.

34 weeks on Tuesday
Asley's a big boy! His head's about 4 weeks ahead of the rest of his bod.
Gill's dreading giving birth to a whopper but I think it'll all balance out.
Everything's ready for his arrival now.
Oh, except childcare. Plenty of time.

Wriggler
Lots of wriggling at inoportune times - usually while wifey's trying to sleep.
He's getting bigger and is now "viable" if born.
Lots of cute boy baby clothes are appearing.
The girls include him in conversation as if he's here already. Sweet!

The Day After ...
24 hours after we heard about Ashley's possible Genetic Defects we are both still reeling from the blow.
I think what made it worse was the news that he was definitely a boy.
Like all parents we would have loved the child no matter what sex but
we were hoping for a boy.
I went into work but they sent me home. I was fit for nothing.
Not knowing is the worst part.
We may hear today. But if the sample is contaminated with placental blood, it will be 2 weeks.
2 weeks of torture.
It's sad how quickly we become experts.
